On 18 April 2024 the Institute of Human Rights, Democracy, Culture of Peace and Non Violence (DEMOSPAZ) organised at the Corrala Hall of the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) a public performance of Collective Reading of Palestinian Poetry of Resistance titled “The Arc of Refaat and Hiba. ¡Let’s Stop the Genocide in Gaza!”.

Our aim was showing our solidarity towards the situation of the Palestinian people and expressing our condemnation of the genocide in Gaza, through the Palestinian poetic resistance to the colonial occupation, and the Palestinian voices reaching out and bringing us their experiences in the form of poetry. Moreover we wanted to add up ours to their voices, by reading collectively their poems in Spanish and Arabic.

The Palestinian Ambassador to Spain, Mr. Husni Abdel Wahed, and representatives of the culture, art, academy and civil society spheres joined us.

In a dedicated web page we published various materials from this performance to spread its message and create public awareness: https://demospaz.org/12839-2/?et_fb=1&PageSpeed=off

You can read the texts of the poems recited during the performance in a Dossier developed by Maurizio Montipó Spagnoli, researcher at DEMOSPAZ:
